What are the Reasons of Visa Rejection?

1.Incomplete or unauthentic application documentsIncomplete or unauthentic documents of application

1.Incomplete or unauthentic application documents

Incomplete or unauthentic documents of application are the major reasons of visa rejection for foreigners. Regardless of the visa application in China, there must be legitimate reasons and supporting materials as the basis for the visa authority's review. If the application materials are found to be incomplete or show signs of fraud after verification, it will directly lead to visa rejection.

Additionally, due to the end of pandemic control, the authority has restored the application procedure back to normal as well as requirements. However, there are foreigners may find themselves unable to apply for visas as the applicants need to have their support documents (such as marriage or birth certificate) authenticated by Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, because these documents issued from the countries abroad need to certified for their authenticity in order to be approved by the Chinese authorities, which is not an essential requirement considering the inconvenient factors since foreign citizens are unable travel back to their countries smoothly during the pandemic prevention control period. However, visa application has now resumed back to order, these documents are all need to be authenticated abroad.

2.Requirements not qualified for application

In terms of the application conditions for work visas, the visa authorities classify foreigners who come to China to apply for work visas into three categories: A/B/C talents, and there are different requirements for different types of talents. The foreign applicants need to check whether they meet the requirements for application in order to successfully apply for a "work visa".

Moreover, companies that hire foreign nationals also need to meet the requirements in order to apply for work visas for foreign employees. If a company wants to legally hire foreign nationals, it must conduct a registration of foreign-related units at the relevant immigration department. Companies without registration cannot provide guarantees for foreign applicants or apply for visas for them. Also, the business qualifications of the foreign-related company itself will also serve as the examination criteria for the visa authority. The business status and registration information of the foreign-related company will be used as background investigation content for the visa authority. If the investigation fails, it will not be possible to apply for a work visa for foreign employees.

3.Application of false visa category

Foreigners should apply for the correct type of visa based on their actual situation. For example, Q and S visas:

Q1 Visa: issued to family members of Chinese citizens who apply for entry and residence due to family reunification, family members of foreigners with permanent residency in China, and individuals who apply for entry and residence due to foster care or other reasons

Q2 Visa: issued to relatives of Chinese citizens residing in China and relatives of foreigners with permanent residency in China who apply for short-term family visits.

S1 visa: issued to the spouse, parents, children under the age of 18, parents of the spouse, and individuals who need to reside in China for other personal reasons, as well as those who apply for long-term family visit in China.

S2 visa: issued to family members of foreigners who apply for short-term family visits in China due to work, study, and other reasons, as well as individuals who need to stay in China due to other personal affairs.

Foreigners should first determine the category of their family members in China and apply for the corresponding visa based on their own conditions and actual needs.

4.Overdue visa or illegal records in the past

When applying for visa extension or other types of visas, if the visa authority finds that the foreign applicant has past overdue or illegal records during the back investigation, it will directly lead to visa rejection. So all of the foreign applicants must comply with China's relevant residence policies and laws and regulations, otherwise they will no longer be able to obtain a visa from China.
