On June 5th, at the invitation of Wuyi University, Zhang Yunxiang, a foreign academician of the National Academy of Engineering of Ukraine, executive president of the Chinese Doctors Association(hereinafter referred to as ”CDA”), and president of the Shenzhen Top Talents Development and Promotion Association, as well as Zhang Yongmin, an academician of the National Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of France, a first level chief researcher of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France, a professor of Sorbonne University of France, and Zhu Zhenyuan, a professor and doctoral supervisor of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, visited Wuyi University in Jiangmen.
CDA is a series of brand companies initiated and established by the Chinese Doctors Association in collaboration with various parties, focusing on the co construction of international scientific and technological innovation institutions, the implementation of scientific and technological achievements, and the introduction and cultivation of international talents. The association has established a series of international technical service companies in Jiangmen, connecting with the Chinese industry and overseas scholars, achieving the landing of international scientific and technological achievements in mainland China, and empowering local industrial upgrading.
The symposium was held at 9 am in the Ma Lanfang Building of the College of Biotechnology and Great Health. The discussion was chaired by Dean Chen Wenhua. Dean Chen warmly welcomed the arrival of Academician Zhang Yongmin and his delegation, and introduced the basic situation of the school. He pointed out that the school is aiming to build a high-level new type of science and engineering university, forming a strong international scientific research team, and achieving a series of research results. He hopes that with the cooperation of both parties, the direction of pharmacy and new drug research and development can achieve new momentum and advantages. Academician Zhang Yongmin stated that Wuyi University has advanced its philosophy and has made significant progress in platform and talent team construction in the past five years. Both sides can strengthen cooperation and promote the discipline construction and scientific research level of the college. Professor Zhu Zhenyuan stated that there are many unique medicinal and food resources in Jiangmen City that can be used for the research and promotion of functional foods. With the good policies and foundation of the Greater Bay Area, the cooperation between the two sides will definitely achieve a complete success. The heads of each research team of the college introduced their research teams, research fields, research achievements, and potential cooperation directions, hoping to engage in in-depth cooperation with Zhang Yongmin's team and make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the local economy. The two sides have preliminarily reached a cooperation intention to jointly carry out research in fields such as pharmacology and Carbohydrate Chemistry.
In the afternoon, we had a discussion and exchange at Cewen Business School. Leaders of relevant units in Jiangmen City, including Chen Zhimei, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of Jiangmen Municipal Party Committee, Director of the Civil Service Bureau, Director of the Human Resources Bureau of Jiangmen City, Dong Yinghu, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Jiangmen City, Director of the Science and Technology Department and Human Resources Department of Wuyi University, and the College of Biotechnology and Big Health attended the meeting. Li Ting, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, presided over the meeting. Firstly, Academician Zhang Yongmin introduced the current research direction of the team, including glycochemistry and its applications in fields such as anti-tumor, food, and agriculture. He said that Wuyi University has a solid research foundation in pharmacology and Medicinal chemistry, and hopes to make greater achievements in the application of polysaccharide drugs and health food. Afterwards, the core members of the team provided additional information on the overall team situation, specific research directions, and plans. After the speech, Principal Li Ting expressed support and affirmation for the project, and the next step will be for both parties to further explore and implement the details. Minister Chen Zhimei and Director Dong Yinghu stated that they will do a good job in providing talent services, and the government will provide maximum support.
