The predecessor of Beijing Institute of Technology is the Academy of Natural Sciences, which was born in Yan'an in 1940. It is the first special institution in the history of the History of the Chinese Communist Party to carry out natural science teaching and research. Comrade Mao Zedong personally wrote the name of the school, Li Fuchun, a proletarian Revolutionary, Xu Teli, a proletarian Revolutionary and educator, and Li Qiang, a proletarian Revolutionary, radio expert, and economic expert, successively served as the main leaders of the school. In 1949, the school moved to Beijing; In 1952, it was named Institute of technology, becoming the first Arms industry college in New China; In 1988, it was renamed Beijing Institute of Technology. She is the first university of science and engineering founded by the CPC, and one of the national key universities since the founding of the People's Republic of China. She is one of the first to enter the national "Project 211" and "Project 985", and one of the first to enter the A-class list of "world-class universities". Now, she belongs to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The school has Zhongguancun Campus and Liangxiang Campus in Beijing, and the "Double Core" Campus has a total construction area of 1.8523 million square meters. There are 8 new teaching and research institutions, including 21 professional colleges, 9 academies, and cutting-edge interdisciplinary research institutes. Since its establishment more than 80 years ago, Beijing Institute of Technology has adhered to educating people for the Party and the country, and has always shared the same breath and destiny with the Party and the country.
